Mōna

This beautiful monster was a long time in development. It’s base is a heavy piece of cast steel made by Griffin and Taitlock. They were manufactures of scientific scales and measures but we still don’t know exactly what this amazing piece was made for! It’s a mystery. I adapted the mechanism to operate an arm made from brass stair runner rods to raise and lower our “moon”. When the hand-carved alabaster handle is turned the moon rises to a full hight of 160cm.
